Karaoke Party - How You Should Plan

    by Christine D

There’s simply no better way to entertain your family and friends for an evening than to host a karaoke party! It’s fun for all, and can make happy memories of wonderful times together. Your karaoke machine is the perfect ice-breaker and will provide entertainment for hours.

Why is a karaoke party so fun? Believe it or not, there is a scientific reason for it! Singing releases endorphins into our body. Some people call these endorphins “happy hormones”. In other words, they make you feel good. Add a hefty supply of these endorphins to some good food, a happy atmosphere, and some fun karaoke games, and you have a delicious recipe for party success.

Step one in planning your karaoke party is to have a karaoke machine. You can either buy a home karaoke machine, or hire a KJ, or karaoke DJ, to bring his karaoke machine. You will also want a large supply of karaoke songs for your guests to sing. A perfect solution is to get the SongStation karaoke machine. This karaoke machine automatically comes with 53,000 in-built songs. It’s the size of a slim-line DVD player, and hooks up to your own TV or entertainment system. Plus it has a handy remote control to control everything at the touch of a button. It’s easy, clutter free, and convenient for a great party.

Besides the karaoke machine, there are a few more things to have for your perfect party.

If you really want a festive atmosphere, you can add special effects like fog, haze, rotating disco balls, bubble-making machines, or glitter balls. You can find these at your local party supply or DJ supply center.

What will you serve for food and drinks? A buffet with filling snacks will complement your karaoke machine much better than a formal meal. Sandwich quarters or pizzas, a veggie tray, and a fruit tray will fill the menu. Provide plenty of bottled waters to hydrate those vocal cords. Singing guests get thirsty! If you serve alcohol, also keep the coffee pot going and the food trays filled.

Don’t serve dairy products, creamy drinks, or chocolate. These can produce phlegm, and make it hard for your guests to sing along with the karaoke machine. You certainly don’t want them getting up to sing amid some kind of coughing fit, do you?

Another reason these guidelines will provide you with the perfect karaoke party is because everything can be prepared ahead of time, providing you the opportunity to enjoy the party as much as your guests! Just start up the karaoke machine, and let the good times roll!

    by Christine D

There is a new revolution in the US, and it’s called karaoke! Invented in the 1970s in Japan, this fun new venue of entertainment is now enjoyed all across Asia, Europe, and the USA.

Everyone is getting in on karaoke, even professional actors in Hollywood. Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted to harbouring a secret love for singing and spends her spare time duetting with Scottish rocker Sharleen Spiteri. The Texas front-woman reveals that the Hollywood actress likes nothing better than to belt out a tune - and the pair even go to karaoke together

On any given day, you may hear karaoke songs wafting out of your neighborhood nightclub. You can take a karaoke break at your local bowling alley on Karaoke Night. Or you might find yourself enjoying a song with your karaoke Ipod wherever you happen to roam.

Your next exercise class is likely to be a Spinning Karaoke class, where you sing karaoke while riding a stationary bicycle. And to add to your pleasure, you can now get your own full-featured karaoke player to enjoy a round of karaoke songs with your loved ones, right in your own home, whenever you want!

Having your own home karaoke machine brings the ultimate entertainment to you with the click of a button. In addition, your karaoke player will also bring you health benefits, help your children learn to read, save you money on entertainment costs, and even help you learn other languages! It’s versatile and beneficial!

With more and more health challenge alerts on the news every day, it’s nice to know that something as fun as a karaoke player can help you keep fit and healthy.

Singing karaoke songs can give you a hefty workout, especially when you belt out the songs and dance like a rock star while you are singing. In order to sing properly, you need to breathe deeply, thus helping to keep your lungs in shape.

You burn lots of calories, exercise your muscles and your heart, and release tension and anxiety. Karaoke singing even releases a surge of endorphins (the “happy” hormones that make you feel GOOD)!

You could think of your karaoke machine as an effective workout machine that leaves you feeling GOOD when you use it!

Home karaoke machines are easily available, and can now bring you a lot of the features previously found only in the best karaoke bars. You can find karaoke players that let you control the pitch, tempo, and key of each song to better match your voice range, so that your singing sounds better.

Karaoke Singing For Beginners - Tips and Lessons

    by Christine D

Do you want your karaoke songs to stand out from the crowd? Singing karaoke songs is the same as singing any other songs. Even though the KJ at the karaoke bar can alter the key and the pitch on the songs to better match your voice, better singing techniques will empower you to deliver a better show.

Learning and practicing these singing techniques will go a long ways toward letting you belt out those karaoke songs like the star you are. You will find that you can develop a stronger voice, with a better range. You will be able to hit more notes easily without straining. Your breath will last longer so that you don’t end up having to stop in the middle of a line to take a breath. You will be more relaxed. All in all, your karaoke songs will sound a hundred times better than before you knew all this good stuff. So let’s get started.

    Warm Up Exercises

Just as athletes warm up before a game or a workout, you should always warm up your voice before you sing. Here are some good warm up exercises:

    1. Take a deep breath while you count slowly to four. Hold it while you count to four again. Then let it out with a hissing sound, or a ssssssssssssssss sound while you count to eight. Do this a few times. You can vary the counts also.

    2. Take a deep breath. Sing “aaaaahhhhhh” until you run out of breath. Let your voice start quietly, and then get louder and louder as you let your breath out.

    3. Sironing. This technique lets you warm up your entire range of your voice. Start as low as you can. Then go up to your highest note you can. Then go back down to your lowest note again.

    4. Sing your scales with each vowel sound. Do the “do-ra-me-fah-so-la-te-do” up and back again.

    5. Say some tongue twisters as fast as you can to warm up your tongue, your cheeks, your lips, and your mouth.

    Breathing With Your Diaphragm

One of the most important vocal techniques you can learn to enable you to sing your karaoke songs like a pro is to breathe with your diaphragm. This is the area below your rib cage. You can feel it expand to bring more air when you take a really deep breath. Concentrate on keeping your lungs expanded, using up the entire space provided to you when your diaphragm is expanded. When you breathe out, don’t push out the air, but let it escape with your melodious notes. This is naturally a hard thing to do, but, with practice, you will notice that your voice is much stronger and easier to control.

    Raising Your Soft Palate

There is an area at the top of the back of your mouth called the soft palate. You can feel it rise up when you start to yawn. When it rises, it opens up your throat. Concentrate on keeping this soft palate raised while you’re singing your karaoke songs, and your voice will sound better.

    Keeping Your Voice Box Low

You also want to learn to keep your larynx, or voice box, lower. You can feel it in your neck, at the front of your throat. Put your hand on it, and practice vocalizing a note without the larynx rising. This may take awhile. When you’ve accomplished this, move on to practicing your karaoke songs while keeping your larynx down.

    Relax

Your karaoke songs also sound their best when you are relaxed. Release all the tension from your body, and especially your upperbody, neck, and throat. Here’s a trick that works: Lie down. Totally relax. Then imagine any tension that is left moving out of your body as you flex and then release every muscle, one by one, starting from your toes and working up.
By the time you get to your head, you are one relaxed singer! Stand back up, move your head around to make sure there is no tension, and sing!

Congratulations! You’ve just learned some professional tips to help you sing great karaoke songs. Practice them, and then go out and have fun!

5 Things You Need To Know When Buying a Karaoke Machine

    by Christine D

So you’ve decided to take the plunge and get your own karaoke machine? Whether you are getting one to perfect your own skills, or looking to find great entertainment for your family and friends, having your own karaoke machine is a fine choice. But how do you choose from the many styles and accessories available on the market today?

The perfect karaoke machine for you depends on YOU! What do you want it for? Is it for you or the kids? Do you want to be able to pick it up and take it with you? Do you want to be able to keep it hooked up all the time for convenience, but unobtrusive? Do you need to be able to hear the vocals when you’re learning new songs? Will you be using it for duets? The answers to these types of questions will help you to determine your own perfect karaoke machine. Let’s examine some of these choices.

If you are getting a karaoke machine just for your small children, then buying a professional quality model with all the bells and whistles is overdoing it. What you want to look for in this case is one of the types specially made for children. They come in bright colors, have large buttons, and are very easy for children to operate. There are not a lot of choices or accessories.

Now, back to the adults. Are you going to be using your karaoke machine only at home? Or do you want to be able to take it with you at a moment’s notice?

If you want to take it with you, then there are stand-alone models with a karaoke monitor included right on the machine itself. With these models, you also need to build up your collection of karaoke CDs to use in it, so that you will have a selection of karaoke songs to sing. Plus, you need to have a way to organize all these CDs, and keep an updated list for your friends to be able to choose their songs. Plus you need to take these with you, too.

So if you choose one of these models, also take into account in your pricing the costs of whichever type of disks your karaoke machine uses. Being portable also lets you put the machine away when you are not using it, and then bring it out when you are ready to party or practice.

If your main purpose is to use your karaoke machine at home, then you also have some great choices. You can choose a style that hooks up to your own entertainment system, and you can read the lyrics right on your TV.

Do you want the capability to sing duets? If so, make sure your karaoke machine has inputs for two microphones. Also, some machines make it possible to alter the pitch, key, and volume separately for each microphone to better complement each singer’s voice and range. But some machines only have a single control for both microphones.

Do you want to host your own karaoke contests? Some karaoke machines have the capability to score the contestants based on certain criteria.

If you would like to use your karaoke machine to learn the songs and improve your performance, then be sure to purchase one that allows you to hear the songs with the vocals turned on or off. That way you can turn the vocals on to learn the words, then turn them off to practice your own karaoke show.

Answer these questions, and you will be able to find a karaoke machine that is perfect for you, and will fit into your own lifestyle. Once you find your perfect machine, look at the accessories and package deals available to you, along with the warranty.

There is one karaoke machine which is versatile enough to fit any occasion — The SongStation Karaoke Machine. It’s the size of a slim, stylish DVD player, yet has 53,000 inbuilt kareoke songs. It hooks up to your TV in 5 minutes, so it is portable to anywhere that has a TV. There is no muss, fuss, or clutter, and you can have an instant party at any time with the push of a button!

What You Need To Know About Buying Karaoke Equipment

    by Christine D

What do you look for when you go out to buy your own karaoke system? There are huge variations in features, styles, and price in the many types of karaoke equipment on the market today. Here are some important things to look for in your search.

Do you want a stand-alone system, or one you can just integrate into your own home entertainment system? You can find both types of karaoke machines. The stand-alone systems include the karaoke player, the speakers, and the monitor for the lyrics all in one machine. It can be very bulky, and you need a place to store it or a spot in your living area that will fit your stand-alone karaoke system. For a non-intrusive style, you can now find karaoke equipment, like The SongStation Karaoke Machine, that plugs right into your home entertainment system and is no bigger than a slim-line DVD player. This type of karaoke system has the player inside the box and uses your own TV for the lyrics monitor and the speakers. Or you can hook it up to your own speaker system, also, for the sound.

Another thing you want to look for in your karaoke equipment is the type of karaoke song disk that your karaoke machine will accept. Some of them use karaoke song DVDs. Others use CDGs, or CD+Gs. These disks are basically a CD with the lyrics included in embedded graphics files. Others use MP3s. And still others have inbuilt karaoke songs. So make a note of what type of disk you need to build your library with. Most machines will only accept particular types of disks. You can solve this whole problem of disk incompatibility with one of the newest machines on the market, The SongStation Karaoke Machine. It accepts virtually any kind of song disk. Plus, with this karaoke system, you won’t even have to build you a song library by buying karaoke song disks. You get a library of 53,000 inbuilt karaoke songs right in the system itself!

You also want to look for what additional features are included with your karaoke equipment. Features like vocals on or off, pitch and volume control, single or dual microphone controls, and scoring capabilities might be some of the features you would like included.

And lastly, check for valuable package deals to save you money, and a good warranty to give you security should anything go wrong with your karaoke system.

With some thought towards what types of features would fit into your lifestyle, you can find the karaoke equipment that will be right for you.
